Frequently Asked Questions
How much is the delivery?
There is a flat fee of $2.80 for islandwide delivery. :) For orders above $50, delivery is FREE!
Does JIN Kimchi have a vegan option?
For more information, please refer to our ingredient list for each kimchi for further details.
How long does it take for the kimchi to reach me?
Delivery will generally take 1- 3 days. However, orders made during sale period, will experience a slight delay due to high order volume (1- 5 days).
My order was only delivered at the end of the day, is it still fresh?
Yes! Do not worry, we use a cold truck for all our deliveries. By the time the item reaches you, it'll be as if it just came out of a fridge~
My kimchi was delivered at room temperature and not chilled. Is that okay?
Yes, we make small batches of kimchi every day and we deliver them fresh to our customers. We’ve factored the delivery time with the natural fermentation process.
How should I store the kimchi?
Kimchi is a natural fermentation dish, allowing it to last longer compared to other food.
You may keep the kimchi in the refrigerator between 0-4°C. The longer you store it, the sourer it will get.
How to prevent the kimchi from spoiling?
Kimchi generally can be consumed for up to a year if kept well.
Make sure that all ingredients are submerged in brine before you reseal the kimchi. Keep the kimchi in our JIN glass jar and seal it tight when storing in your fridge.
We recommend you to use clean utensils when you handle kimchi and use a sharing chopstick during dining. This will prevent fewer bacteria from entering the kimchi, keeping it less sour.
Like your kimchi more fermented and sour?
If you’d like a more flavourful taste, you may leave it outside at room temperature (away from sunlight) to ferment more. We recommend you to loosen the kimchi bottle lid and do this for 2 - 4 hours at a time, taste the kimchi before fermenting more.
My kimchi is bubbling, is that normal?
Yes, it is perfectly normal and safe to consume. Kimchi fermentation produces carbon dioxide and builds pressure inside the jar. When the jar is opened, the pressure releases and bubbles to the surface.
Upon receiving our kimchi, we recommend you to open and close the lid of the container at least once a week to release some excessive air and avoid spillage - this is known as burping.
